Product Review: Fray Stoppa

A product recently added to the online store is Fray Stoppa.
This product is made and owned by an all Australian business.

There are a number of these types of products on the market and I haven't used any of them so I am not able to do a comparison, I can only tell you how this product performed.

It's designed to stop fabric fraying so it is easier to handle and sew.

I had expected it to be a little like nail varnish. Put your hand up if you've used your clear nail polish to stop a run on tights or stockings! Well I thought it would dry hard like nail varnish but it doesn't.

It's flexible and dried clear.  You can feel a residue obviously and it does have the slightest shine but this would vary for different fabrics.  I'm using a sheer that frays and it worked really well.

The nozzle is adjustable so you can control the flow - loved that! The liquid isn't as thick as glue so controlling the flow is important.

I would see this product coming in very handy for appliques, working with fabrics that fray in general and little fiddly pieces of sewing. If you knew where you wanted to cut, I would imagine that you could add Fray Stoppa and then cut.

Available in a 125ml bottle from The Haby Goddess online store.

It is alcohol based and you need to use it in a well ventilated area as the smell could become overwhelming.

I have looked further into the Australia Post rules relating to posting flammable liquids and because it does not exceed 70% alcohol I can post it by Air, so no delay. YAY!

Hi Jodie,
I've used this product before & it is brilliant. Many moons ago I made fabric dolls & this was fabulous on the inside seams.

I have one of these tubes, maybe this brand but it might be another also. I use it on the ends of ribbons, I hate how they fray and look all tatty!
