While I was flicking through a copy of Kerstin Martensson's Kwik Sew method for Easy Sewing (1980), which I had picked up second hand, I came across a technique I just had to try.
The book states "To sew a perfect circle, place a thumb tack on your sewing machine with the point sticking up. Hold the tack in place with a piece of transparent tape. Poke the tack through your fabric and pivot the fabric around the tack as you sew."
Ta- Da!!

I saw someone mention that method recently- i think it was on craftster- but haven't tried it out myself yet. It's so simple yet so clever!

Great post. I have been trying to sew circles all night but mine are all squiffy. Do you drop your feed dogs?
Hi Liz, no I don't drop the dog feeds, having them up gives you a little bit more control!

that's a good idea but I've to lift up the foot every three for stitches because the fabric is puckering. I lowered the pressure but no changes and I'm so frustrated. thank's for help
Tack Circles, Wow, Now I won't have to buy the expensive one from the sewing machine shop.
