All about Shirring

I receive many emails asking all sorts of things relating to shirring.  So I thought I would revisit and extend on a tutorial I did some time a go.  Nothing screams summer more than a sweet little shirred dress so here's some tips, tutorials, patterns & inspiration.

What elastic to use

It is best to use a shirring elastic so it is thin enough to wind onto your bobbin and thread through your bobbin carrier.  Shirring elastic is available here.

Some other ideas on using shirring

Add to your jackets, to the waist of a dress, refashion one of dad's old shirts
